Established in 2008 by the Central Bank of Malaysia as an Islamic finance and Shariah-related research institution.
Acts as a repository of knowledge for Shariah views (fatwas) and undertake studies on contemporary issues in the Islamic financial industry led by the Council of Scholars compromised of local and international Shariah scholars.
Adjunct Professor Dr. Zaharuddin Abd Rahman has extensive 18 years of corporate, banking and finance experience, including products structure, legal, audit and risk.
Currently he is serving as Adjunct Professor at Faculty of Business and Accountancy of UNISZA & UNISEL, a member of Shariah Advisory Council of Securities Commission of Malaysia, Chairman of Shariah Committee of Exim Bank Malaysia, PUNB and ONEXOX. He is also a Shariah Committee member of EPF Malaysia (Simpanan Shariah).
He was a member of Board of Directors at University Sultan Zainal Abidin (UNisZA) where he is a Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee and also a member of Finance & Investment Committee of UnisZA; additionally, he served Board of Trustee of Yayasan Pembangunan Ekonomi Islam Malaysia (YAPIEM) where he is also a Chairman of Risk Committee.
